Cloud Infrastructure : The 4Base Solutions

Technologies from innovative leaders like VMware and Cisco can have a profoundly positive impact on IT service delivery, continuity and cost. But as with any transformative technologies, the adoption can be greatly influenced by an organization’s preparedness. Failure to execute a gap analysis prior to wide-scale deployment of virtual infrastructure often leads to a halt in the project while remediation strategies are considered. This in turn can lead to a loss of momentum and ultimately a negative perception of a virtual infrastructure initiative.

Solution offerings include:

Cloud Infrastructure Assessment
The Virtualization Assessment is a method used to identify existing candidates for server consolidation and produce a TCO/ROI analysis to justify the virtualization project. Using the Virtualization Assessment the tool Capacity Planner may be leveraged to identify ideal candidates based on server characteristics and performance data.

VI Jumpstart
The VI Jumpstart will provide a customer personalized and informative guided tour of VI capabilities within their environment. During the initial planning stages lots of questions will need to be addressed relating to customer specifics, thus having a consultant available to address important matters and provide best practices with respect to VI running in their environment.

P2V & P2C Jumpstart
The P2V/P2C Jumpstart is a two day workshop that introduces customers to the methodology to migrated existing physical servers into a virtualized public or private environment in the form of virtual machines. In addition, it covers the migration of Virtual Machines from/to different platforms.

Lab Manager Jumpstart
The Lab Manager workshop presents customers with a guided tour of VMware Lab Manager. We install two ESX server hosts, one Virtual Center Server, and one Lab Manager Server to facilitate the tour.

VI Upgrade Workshop
The VI Upgrade workshop helps existing customers of VMware ESX server who plan to upgrade to the current version of VMware Infrastructure understand the differences between the versions, procedures, and issues that should be taken into consideration. An upgrade will be performed of up to two ESX server hosts and one Virtual Center Server, as a proof of concept along with a brief tour of the current VMware Infrastructure new features.

VDI Jumpstart
The VDI Jumpstart workshop provides customers with a guided tour of VMware View.  Two VDM connection servers and one security server are installed to facilitate this tour. To demonstrate the capabilities and features of View, one desktop and desktop pool is created

Server Consolidation & Capacity Planning Analysis: More than a technology, enterprise consolidation is – or should be – a strategic system-wide approach that encompasses several technologies and also involves corporate finance, executive management and, of course, corporate politics. IT managers and executives who are in a position to look up from the short-term crisis in front of them to the long-term changes that are being put in place through consolidation are in a position to have a game changing impact on their organizations

VI Plan and Design
The VI Plan and Design delivers a comprehensive design and documentation related to the customer’s environment. Customers want to ensure consistency when deploying VI into their environments and having a Plan and Design helps identify all the variables and considerations prior to a deployment.

VI Health Check
The VI Health Check is conducted annually to provide feedback to a customer regarding if their environment is running optimally and is configured per best practices. The Health Check provides a report card of the overall configuration, usage observed against the industries best practices, and able to address questions regarding how best to go about resolving them.

Virtual Operational Readiness: Delivers a high-level assessment of an IT environment’s capability to successfully support cloud infrastructure technology.  As is common with most transformative technologies or processes, many cloud initiatives are not properly planned for prior to broad deployment.  This often results in the initiative coming to a halt as unexpected issues arise and remediation is sought.  Such a result also tends to lead to a loss of momentum and negative perception of virtual infrastructure distracting stakeholders from the true value of the technology.  The assessment is designed to identify common pitfalls associated with virtual infrastructure before they occur allowing the IT organization to smoothly execute the technology rollout and maximize the cost savings full extensibility of virtualization to drive their business.

Operational Readiness Assessment
The Operational Readiness Assessment can be considered Phase I of the OR process and seeks to ensure that the VI adoption throughout an organization is not hindered by political or organizational challenges. This service will help identify capabilities and procedures that are impacted by virtualization and the maturity levels needed to successfully implement and maintain the VI.

Operational Readiness Assurance
The Operational Readiness Assurance should be considered Phase II of the OR process and seeks to ensure the VI adoption throughout an organization is not hindered by process and organizational challenges. This service will help remediate the specifically identified Functional Areas which may be impacted by virtualization and the maturity levels required to successfully implement and maintain the VI.

DR Planning & Optimization: Tie application and hardware independent recovery plans to your overall business continuance strategy. Increase process automation, coverage and test capabilities. Recover failed systems in seconds not hours. Increase availability by clustering between physical and virtual machines, consolidating failover hardware.

Business Continuity Jumpstart with SRM
The Business Continuity workshop adds Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to VI Jumpstart or VI Upgrade. With the introduction of business continuity concepts, considerations to increase high availability, backup and recovery Virtual Machines, and planning for recovery, this service covers the entire spectrum of virtualized BC-DR.
